Advanced Distinction for Doctoral-Level Practitioners

The Fellow of the American Alternative Medical Association (FAAMA) designation represents advanced professional standing among licensed and doctoral-level practitioners in integrative and alternative medicine.

Fellow status is conferred by the Board in recognition of sustained clinical or professional practice, continued education, and meaningful contributions to the advancement of alternative medicine.

Who Should Apply

Fellow designation is intended for experienced practitioners who have demonstrated sustained clinical practice, leadership, and meaningful contributions to the advancement of alternative or integrative medicine.

Fellow designation is conferred selectively based on demonstrated qualifications, experience, and professional contribution.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Maintain active AAMA certification and membership in good standing
  • Hold appropriate licensure and/or doctoral-level education in a health-related field
  • Demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years of professional or clinical practice
  • Provide documentation of continuing education and professional development
  • Demonstrate leadership, teaching, publishing, or contributions to the advancement of alternative medicine
  • Submit a professional written statement outlining experience and contributions

Note:
All Fellow applications are reviewed and conferred at the discretion of the AAMA Board

The Professional Statement

Applicants are required to submit a 600-word professional statement addressing:

  • Their professional journey in integrative or alternative medicine
  • Contributions to advancing awareness, education, or clinical application
  • Continuing education efforts and professional development
  • Leadership, mentorship, or teaching roles
  • Vision for the future of alternative and integrative medicine

This allows the Board to evaluate professional engagement, clinical experience, and long-term commitment to the field.

Fellow Designation & Active Status

The Fellow designation is an advanced credential added to your existing AAMA certification.

Fellow status remains valid as long as your AAMA membership remains active and in good standing.

Active membership allows AAMA to:

  • Verify your current professional standing
  • Maintain your Fellow designation in the practitioner directory
  • Recognize your status as an active Fellow

Fellow Designation Fee

Approved applicants will be invited to remit the following:

  • One-time Fellow designation fee: $295
  • Annual Fellow membership: $229/year

Fellow designation is granted only upon Board approval and is not available through direct purchase.

The Fellow designation fee is applied upon approval. Your membership will renew at the Fellow rate thereafter.

Professional Distinction
